Cold air can get through cracks not sealed with silicone caulk.
Plumbing
Seal leaks and gaps around all plumbing fixtures—including bathrooms and kitchen pipes—with a permanently waterproof caulk.
Doors
Seal all gaps around doors. Use a caulk that will not shrink and crack over time. Shrinkage leaves cracks for air and water to seep through.
Windows
Look for gaps where two pieces of non-moving window trim meet. Seal with an airtight and waterproof caulk.
Basement
Seal gaps around foundation, electrical penetrations, pipes (water and gas), and ventilation ducts with a durable caulk that will not shrink or crack over time.
Electrical
Seal gaps around electrical work with a permanently airtight caulk. Check around electrical wiring, recessed lighting, and phone/TV cables that penetrate walls throughout the house.
Stop the Shivers. Seal with Silicone.
